The Mult-skills Zone Supported with Nationally Accredited Teacher Training
The Multi-skills Zone from ESP PLAY is proven to increase the daily physical activity levels of every child. High quality daily physical activity provides endless benefits for children and young people’s physical health and mental wellbeing. Research proves daily physical activity increases self-esteem, improves emotional wellbeing, and lowers anxiety and depression. Children who are physically active are happier, more resilient, and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement. ESP PLAY provides excellent training through our CPD workshops.
The Vision for Primary PE & School Sport – Department for Education
“It is important for ALL pupils leaving primary school to be physically literate and to have the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.” – Andrew Wood, Managing Director.
The CPD training that ESP PLAY delivers is a fantastic way to up-skill teaching staff as well as being an effective sustainable way of using the Sports Premium funding. Read about School Sport Premium from Youth Sport Trust. Primary PE & Sport Premium – Youth Sport Trust
“As a specialist PE practitioner, I have been helping primary schools raise standards of PE for the last 16 years. I have worked with School Sport Partnerships in the North West of England delivering competitions, improving levels of participation and inclusion. The opportunity to lead on the national delivery of high-quality CPD presents a real challenge that I could not turn down. I look forward to supporting schools and their staff in providing strategies to increase sustained participation in high-quality physical activity for every child.” – Head of CPD, ESP Play
ESP PLAY will evidence the successful delivery of the 5 key indicators from Ofsted
The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that primary school children undertake at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day in school
Independent research shows not only more activity among individuals using the MSZ but greater numbers of pupils engaging during breaktimes. The MSZ can also be used during curriculum time adding physical activity to core subjects.
The profile of PESSPA and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
Using the MSZ is proven to increase levels of physical activity throughout school which, in turn, leads to increased concentration in class and improved attainment. Leadership, teamwork, communication and confidence are also developed through our Level 1 Playground Buddies CPD courses.
Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
Our afPE accredited awards linked to our MSZ are an extremely cost effective way of upskilling ALL staff and adults involved in the delivery and supervision of physical activities and PE. Feedback from our CPD courses is overwhelmingly positive with regards to increasing confidence, knowledge and skills.
Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
The Multi-Skills approach is non-sports specific which means that the fundamental skills developed on the MSZ are transferrable across ALL sports. It doesn’t get any broader when opening the door to experience new sports and activities.
Increased participation in competitive sport
Our new Multi-Skills festival pack for schools means that every single child across both key stages can participate in a competitive activity on the MSZ. Upload your scores to our website and you’ve just taken part in a virtual national competition without even leaving school!
“Teachers’ knowledge and understanding of fundamental movement skills (FMS) and multi-skills have been enhanced as a result of the ESP training and opportunities to focus on these specific elements during PE lessons.”
