ESP Play Were chosen by Wickhambrook academy to carry out a playground development within their early years outdoor play area.

School: Wickhambrook Primary Academy

Location: Wickhambrook

The Background

Wickhambrook is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. It is about ten miles (16 km) south west from Bury St Edmunds, halfway to Haverhill, off the A143 road. Wickhambrook is the largest village by area in the county of Suffolk.

Each class is named after an animal. There are currently 7 classes ranging from Early Years aged 4 up to Year 6 children aged 10.

All academies have their own distinctive ‘feel’ which makes each one unique. Believe that the ‘special feel’ at Wickhambrook is because of their caring, family atmosphere where everyone is valued as an individual and where parents, carers and the wider community are invited to share in school life.

The academy continues to develop in many exciting ways, providing an even more enriching experience for their children. Children really are at the centre of everything they do. Wickhambrook have high expectations for both behaviour and achievement and believe that every pupil has a unique personality and talents to be developed.

The Brief

In November 2021, Wickhambrook Academy made contact with ESP and gave a full brief around their Early Years Provision. They wanted to create an area where the children can, play, learn and develop skills from the classroom to the outdoor area, encouraging the children to use a free-flow element to their school day. The children now have an amazing outdoor area that focuses around the 7 areas of learning. Targeting their personal, social and emotional development, fine and gross motor skills, communication & language, plus lots more. The school chose the following play equipment from ESP plays’ product range which included within this design were our Timber Canopy for outdoor shelter, our Funnel Web Tangled Climbing Frames to help with the children’s fine and gross motor skills, a messy play area which is open ended and great for children to explore, plus many, many more exciting products. Mrs Tyzack (headteacher) was amazed by the design process all the way through to the completed installation. Here at ESP we really do make dreams come true.

If you are looking at developing your outdoor provision then please contact ESP Play. One of our amazing Area Sales Managers would love to have the opportunity to make your design become a reality.
