Case Study - Technical Design Apprentice

Jack Pugh

Jack joined ESP after completing his GCSE’s at school to take up an apprenticeship in Technical Design. He attends Burnley College on the Engineering apprenticeship for which he attends college once a week on day release and for four blocks of five weeks during the 4-year duration of the qualification.

Jack’s role at ESP entails producing site drawings, assisting with the design of bespoke products ensuring compliance with BSEN1176 and creating Bill of Materials. This is an important role working in our busy Installation Department giving much support to our Technical Designer and working closely with the Head of Operations, Contracts Managers, and installation teams.

As well as attending college on a weekly basis Jack has also taken part in our Professional Development Academy attending external training sessions to build his knowledge about the working of business and his own personal development.

ESP are committed to training and developing apprentices and it is extremely satisfying to see them grow as individuals and gain in their confidence.

We have to say a big well done to Jack as he recently completed the first year of his apprenticeship with 3 distinctions, 1 merit and 2 passes.

Jack has an excellent opportunity to grow and develop within ESP with a career pathway that could take him into any part of the business.

Apprentices are our future and an important part of our continued succession planning.
