Multi-skills Area - Playground Markings

ESP CPD for Primary school teachers consists of two core training modules, Teacher Support Sessions and Headteacher’s seminars. The training modules are named the Multi-skills Training Awards (Levels 1 & 2) and are two and a half hours in duration. The Training Awards are delivered on the Multi-skills zone consisting of a suite of playground markings known as ‘The Famous Five’. These playground markings have been specifically designed to challenge movement patterns in terms of Stability, Object Control and Locomotion. Teachers and pupils views were used to inform the development of the playground marking ‘Multi-skills zone’ as part of a national research programme .

Teacher Support Sessions are designed in partnership with National Governing Bodies such as the Rugby Football League and professional sports clubs such as the Leeds Rhinos. The sessions can be used to sustain the use of the playground marking Multi-skills zone through support from Community Sports Coaches in curricular and extra-curricular activity.

The FREE of charge Headteacher’s seminar is an interactive two-hour workshop designed to raise the awareness of Headteachers in terms of maximising the use of the playground as an outdoor resource.
