Brand New Playground Equipment Design – Tangled

Bespoke Climbing Playground EquipmentWhen a school comes to us with an idea in mind for a piece of playground equipment they would love to have, it’s our job to try and make that vision a reality. The Design Team are often asked to work on bespoke products and when these designs make it into production – it’s a great moment for everyone involved.

We were recently asked to design a bespoke piece of playground equipment for Haughton St Giles Primary School in Staffordshire and were asked to come up with a design of playground equipment a little bit different to keep their pupils active both mentally and physically – something to present them with a good challenge. Our Design Team put their heads together and began to draw up ideas for a unique new playground equipment concept.

As with all new ideas, our bespoke playground equipment has to go through a design process which starts with a few simple sketches. Once an idea has been visualised, we ask the question – ‘Can we make it?’. If we can, it is drawn up in a 3D Computer Aided Design programme and tweaked to take the shape of a realistic new product design. Once the visual of the playground equipment is finished, it is sent over to the school for feedback and once given the go ahead, the manufacturing process can begin. This involves drawing up working diagrams of how the new design is put together and the parts needed to manufacture it – it is then ready to be made by our production team, transported to the school and installed, ready for the children to use and enjoy.

Our New Tangled Playground Equipment RangeThe idea behind the playground equipment at Haughton St Giles has inspired us to create ‘Tangled’ – a new playground equipment range currently in development. Inspired by web-like structures, our new range of playground equipment features twists, turns and plenty of rope netting to engage children in a unique climbing experience that will keep them entertained before and after school and throughout their playtimes.

Climbing is a fantastic way of keeping children fit and healthy and provides them with an exciting way to develop their co-ordination and upper-body strength. ‘Tangled’ aims to encourage children to take part in adventurous and active play which is designed to inspire young people to use the equipment, not only as a climbing frame, but to drive their imagination and create their own games and adventures.
