Area Development Manager

Purpose of the Role:

We are now looking to add to our very successful sales department.   The successful candidate will have and a natural affinity for rapport building at all levels whilst be able to effectively manage the sales and marketing effort to a range of clients within a designated area of the UK. Experience in sales would be an advantage but not a necessity.

The role will be supported with a full modular training programme, which provides global commercial development and a full understanding and appreciation of how all departments operate within the business.  The training programme provides a structured pathway for career progression and professional development.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in the market place is an advantage but not essential.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Well-developed IT and presentation skills.
  • Excellent personal presence.
  • The ambition and drive to ensure the successful implementation of the Company’s strategic plans.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Outlook, ACT or similar CRM software, Excel and Word.

Personal Skills and Attributes:

  • Requirement of strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

Business Development Manager

Purpose of the Role:

Purpose of the role:

An exciting opportunity has become available to join ESP Ltd.  ESP Ltd provides a one-stop shop solution to the design, installation and support for the outdoor spaces within Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Special Needs schools throughout the UK. 

ESP Ltd specialise in the design, installation and support of the playground as a context to deliver improvements across the whole school. We deliver our concepts in Early Years, Primary, Secondary and SEN  schools throughout the UK. The heart of our strategy is born from a Movement / Multi-skills pathway through the use of specifically designed playground markings and a structured nationally accredited CPD training programme to aid the development of all young people. All of our products and services have been designed as developmentally appropriate interventions and focus very closely on the correct ages and stages of a child's development.


We work in partnership with School Sport Partnerships, Primary Care Trusts, Local Authorities, Playing for Success, Extended Services, Professional Sports Clubs and Universities, in delivering our strategy of 'Shaping A Community of Practice Through PE and Sport'. Our concept has been independently researched by a wealth of Universities and demonstrates a HUGE positive impact on the following national and school strategies:

We are now looking to add a Business Development Manager to our organisation. The successful candidate will have and natural affinities for rapport building at all levels, have strong leadership and negotiation skills and must be able to demonstrate a strong background in strategic rollout within the PE and Sport industry.

The role will be supported with a full modular training programme, which provides global commercial development and a full understanding and appreciation of how all departments operate within the business.  The training programme provides a structured pathway for career progression and professional development.

Specific responsibilities:

• Write and implement a business development strategy for 2010 to 2012  in line with business goals and objectives with  the following market sectors: School Sport Partnerships, Sports Colleges, County Sport Partnerships and the Active Schools network in Scotland

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the ‘Shaping A Community Of Practice Through PE and Sport’ strategy in order to play a leading role in delivering market sector and company growth

• Identify and establish networks for cross-selling opportunities and brand awareness

• Play a leading role in the recruitment and training of 4 development managers, and 3 field consultants

• Formal and regular liaison with Head of Education to ensure consistency in focus and direction with client activities and geographical strategic programmes

• Research and analysis of new concepts or political developments

• Analyse key clients and markets including the provision of competitor intelligence

• Identifying relevant networking, conferences and workshop opportunities

• Working with the Marketing department to ensure that there is relevant and timely marketing and advertising activity related to your consumer audience and strategic plan

• Understanding and building a process infrastructure to support the strategic rollout development

• To contribute and enhance the ethos and practice of ESP and ESP Scotland

Performance Measures:

• Agreed SMART objectives clearly contributing to business goals and objectives
• To have influenced business with a specific number of  School Sport Partnerships, County Sport Partnerships Sports Colleges and Active School networks within a 12 month period
• To achieve the agreed customer service score across all categories in the customer service control document 
• A close focus on market intelligence on both consumer and competitor
